Current projects (at different stages of development)

I am currently involved on a number of research projects, either as a lead author or as a co-author. Below you can find brief descriptions of these  projects.

Increasing cultured meat acceptance: Persuasive strategies to reduce the liking gap between conventional and cultured meat
  • With Dr. Sarah Gradidge and Tara McGuicken, we explore whether emphasizing the negative aspects of conventional meat benefits perceptions of cultured meat.
  • Level of development: Manuscript is being drafted.
Value similarity: Exploring the meaning of the construct and its measurement
  • With Dr. Goda Perlaviciute, Dr. Nadja Contzen, and Prof. Dr. Linda Steg, we use response surface analysis (RSA) to evaluate whether conventional measures of value similarity (e.g. to what extent do you think X institution shares your values on Y situation) really capture the match between a person's values and the perceived values of an institution.
  • Level of development:  Manuscript submitted.
Short and long-term attractiveness of people varying in dietary preferences
  • With María Esperanza Echenique and Tara McGuicken, we evaluate whether relationship context (i.e., short vs. long-term) moderates the effect of dietary preferences (omnivorous vs. vegetarian) on romantic attraction.
  • Level of development: Manuscript submitted.
Traits desired in environmental leaders when facing an imminent ecological disaster
  • With Jacob Matic, Dr. Shiv Mukherjee, and Prof. Dr. Mark van Vugt, we explore whether people's declared and actual environmental leader preferences are moderated by the type of environmental challenge followers expect to deal with.
  • Level of development: Project is being prepared.
Trust and public acceptability of environmental policies
  • With Shirin Betzler, Lena Schmeiduch, and Jana Weißenberger, we aim to study how trust in managing institutions and its dimensions (integrity vs. competence) influence the aceptability of different types of environmental policies.
  • Level of development: Data collection in progress.
Promoting sustainable consumption society-wide: a costly signaling approach
  • ANID's (Chile's National Agency for Research and Development) funded project aiming to study how, when, and in which contexts people's self-presentational needs promote sustainable consumption and adoption of ecological innovations.
  • Level of development: First study is in preparation.
Ecoanxiety in the scientific community
  • With Dr. Rodolfo Sapiains and Dr. Gabriela Azocar, we explore the emotional responses to climate change, and particularly, ecoanxiety, in a sample highly exposed to often negative climate change informartion such as the Chilean scientific community working on the topic.
  • Level of development: Manuscript is being drafted.
